Hey mom, Millie Moo here!
Had a big adventure today on the mystery of the slobbery tennis ball. Found it in our woods, but didn’t recognize the smell! After sniffing around town, took a gamble on the Southern Golden River Retriever and found the owner, a new Golden Retriever called Pippa! Another mystery solved by your favorite pooch in town. Now off to celebrate with a drool-worthy ice cream cone.
Love, Millie Moo š¾
When you live in Spencerville, every day is one mystery solved and another just beginning around the bend. And let me tell you, finding the owner of a wet tennis ball ain’t as easy as it sounds. Particularly when said tennis ball is hidden deep under the lush undergrowth of Eastern White Westie Woods, right under your favorite squirrel-chasing tree.
Take Millie for instance, our Blenheim Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. You know her – sweet face, curly ears, the whole “who, me?” innocent eyes routine. Yes that’s her! With a passion for falling leaves and an affectionate heart, Millie is a prized detective in our little community. Yet, despite this glamorous career, she nurses a fear – a fear of that dreaded ear-cleaner.
Now, back to the tennis ball conundrum. Millie dug it up during one of her many adventures in the woods, sliding it past her Eeyore plush and clenching it between her teeth. As a detective, she knows everybody’s tennis balls, chewed, slobbery, or squeaky. But this one, itās a complete stranger. A juicy chewable mystery.
Fueled by the zippy energy of a juicy sausage roll from Pup ‘n’ Go Taco Joint, Millie embarked on her investigation, tail wagging to the rhythmic hum of the clues lining up.
First stop: the backyard. A hotbed of activity where Henry and Shiloh, her closest confidants, reveled in the trouble they had caused. In true Millie style, she got straight to the point, “You seen this tennis ball before?” Shiloh gave a non-committal shrug while Henry leaned in and sniffed, “Smells like the beach!”. Interesting, donāt you think, her next stop?
Brindle Brown Boxer Beach, Spencerville’s picturesque sandy stretch. Millie traced her steps there, tennis ball in mouth, gleaming under the radiant sun. No leads amongst the sandy dwellers, but there was a hint of pineapple, her absolute favorite.
With the taste of pineapple lingering, she made a bold move towards the Southern Golden River Retriever, hoping to unearth a lead over a hearty platter at K9 Kebabs. Bingo. It belonged to a new pet in town – a Golden Retriever named Pippa who recently lost it while playing near the river.
The case was closed but Millie didn’t waste time celebrating. She briskly walked up to the Canine Cafe and ordered a huge cone of ice cream, the one meal that could lure her away from even a case. Her eyes gleamed with triumph as she got back on the road, to return the ball to its worthy owner.
Yes, in Spencerville, every day is one mystery solved, but remember, the next one is just a wagging tail away.
The End.
