Hey Mom & Dad! Your brave Oscar Boo had a busy week. A posh, new Afghan Hound named Jasmine moved into town & I befriended her, saving Pawsburg (and Daisy) from her highfalutin ways! May have accidentally booked a spa day though… Love, Oscar.
In the quiet town of Pawsburg, nestled between the sweet piñatas at Doggy Donuts and the raucous jubilee at Dog-gone Good BBQ, there came a whisper of a rumor that ruffled the stillness of the afternoon. The whisper swirled through Maltese Meadow, drifted across Lower Dalmatian Desert and hushed the hustle at Siberian Summit. “A new arrival at the Spa for Paws!” it said, “A highborn, aristocratic Afghan Hound from the far-off lands of Coloringham!”
This put me, Oscar, in a bit of a conundrum. Remember, Daisy, splendid Daisy, was my partner in mischief and adventure. What manner would this dainty and ostentatious Afghan hound have on our small haven of Pawsburg? Would Daisy be charmed by her exotic allure? I shuddered at the thought; tailor-made to be Daisy’s new favorite comrade, no doubt.
An idea, as glorious as a hundred roasted turkey slices- my favorite, sprung to light. A petition! Yes, a clever appeal, drafted by none other than me to the powers that be. The Pooch Playhouse’s manager, an amiable Boxer, seemed pleased with my initiative, promising to ponder over it at his earliest convenience. Though his preoccupied demeanor made me skeptically gnaw at my beloved rubber ball later.
While chewing over the issue with Daisy under our usual juniper bush at Maltese Meadow, a sleek figure glided towards us, fur glistening under the golden sun. The Afghan Hound, looking every bit depressing as described. Daisy, though, perked up, eyes wide with curiosity and something that looked horrifyingly like delight.
Her name was Jasmine. She spoke in a clipped, professional tone, like she had attended a fancy dog school in Coloringham. Fancy…amd maybe a bit pretentious. With an awkward guffaw, Daisy extended a paw in greeting.
Conflicted but inspired, I decided a trip to the Woof and Whisker Wellness Center and Spa for Paws was overdue. No, not because I enjoyed baths, not at all. But, for the sake of Daisy and our uninterrupted realm of adventures, Oscar, the Jack Russell Terrier, must accommodate change.
For, as the wise Saint Bernard at the Siberian Summit once quoted, “Sometimes, Oscar, one unexpected bath can change the course of our destiny.”
As it turned out, Jasmine was no monstress. She was just a fun-loving dog, looking for friends in a new town. We became friends, she, Daisy, and I. Now, we are the terrific trio of the Lower Dalmatian Desert.
Thus unfolded yet another adventurous tale of mine, or as you humans call it, “drama”, right in the quaint town of Pawsburg. Oh, I do hope they forget about that Spa subscription though!
The End.
