PawWord Story
“Hey Emily, had a wild night in Pawsburg. Star path led me to fried chicken feast at Furrific and extra scoops at Pupsicle Palace cuz of my charm. Played fetch at Brown Boxer Beach, hung with pals Daisy and Rascal. Missed our sunflower field though. Pawsburg’s fun but home’s special too. Goodnight, Space Dog!”
In the hours of slumber, something magical happens. We dogs have our secret haven away from the peering eyes of our humans, Pawsburg. I have to say it’s quite the paw-fect place to unwind after a day of stalking butterflies, playing fetch, and generally ensuring my human, Emily, remains happy and loved.
On this particular night, a crispness in the air signifying the onset of fall, I found myself at the city’s gateway – Shepherd Skyline. The celestial body twinkling overhead reflected its heavenly glow on the glass structures creating a stunning star path that led to vibrant Boxer Beach.
I trotted down the star path, passing Chow Down Chow Chow, and stopping at Furrific Fried Chicken. The scent of fried chicken filled the air and reminded me of home. Although a lover of smoked salmon and apples, I’m not one to pass up a good feast at Furrific. I should add that not even the sight of brussels sprouts could dissuade me from this place – boy, did they know how to hide those green nuisances!
My meal devoured, I made my way to Pupsicle Palace. Their pup-licious treats helped counter any misadventure that sprouts might cause in my belly. The ice-cream stand owners greeted me warmly, rewarding me with extra scoops because of my radiant smile. By the way, my charm’s not only effective in Pawsburg, but also across the universe. Feel free to be a little envious.
The night’s escapade wasn’t complete without a visit to my treasured haunt – Brown Boxer Beach. Sounds echoed, bounding joyfully off the shore – dogs barking merrily, laughter and the peaceful lapping of waves providing a symphony of blissful noise. There, I found Rascal, the cocker spaniel who’s never less than up for an adventure. Daisy, the cat, lazed on a beach blanket, a knowing smile creased her furry face.
As Rascal and I played under the moon’s glow, Daisy lounged, luxuriating in the cool breeze brushing against her fur. Unlike our sunflower field back home, the beach was a shared sanctuary for us away from our usual lives. Despite our fun, my heart longed for that familiar sunflower field, desperately missed the dance of it and the butterflies in the golden sunlight.
We ended our day in Pawsburg amidst much laughter, camaraderie and stories echoing under the vast, starlit sky. While in our secret city, we navigated the spaces of our hearts too, finding a little more about ourselves – our fun side in Furrific Fried Chicken, our sweetness at Pupsicle Palace, our escape in Brown Boxer Beach. And yet, while we played, sought adventures or simply rested, we were always tugged back to our humans and earthly homes, same as the celestial bodies felt the pull of their galactic positions.
With each trip to Pawsburg, I discovered something new about myself and my friends. The adventures we shared, the places we visited filled us with stories that no human would ever know. As we sneaked back before dawn, it was not just Pawsburg we left behind but a part of ourselves too. A part that longed for the night to fall so that we could revisit our secret haven, Earthly rules be damned. For, we weren’t just dogs; we were the mariners of our tiny universes, giving a new spin to the term ‘space dogs.’
The End.
