Ralphie PawWord Story
“Hey Mom! Loving my life in Spencerville; savoring divinity at Chow Hound Café (avoiding broccoli, of course) and hanging with Luna and Graeme in the woods. Pools, not so much – total fur disaster. Moosey is the tops but Vacuum Mondays are the pits. Miss you heaps. We Greyhounds have a motto, ‘In patience lies joy’. Hoping for some family reunion joy soon. Love, Ralphie the Super Lurcher.”
From the endless grains of sand on Lower Golden Gate Gardens to the heart of Eastern White Westie Woods, there is no other place in existence that matches the charm of Spencerville. Ah, Spencerville, where the trees are no less than fantastical oaks and the sky has a habit of being seas of pink, reminding you of cotton candy.
I am Ralphie, the Greyhound, the connoisseur of fine food, at least up to what my sense of smell can sense – Pork Steak, Sausages, Chicken. Oh, the heavenly dishes one can find at Chow Hound Café! But you won’t catch me dead eating broccoli – a vile, mini-tree-like entity with an uncanny ability to drive joy straight out, similar to lambs and carrots.
While Spencerville might be the equivalent to a canine nirvana, it’s worth mentioning that pools are a no-go about here. Try as one might; they simply don’t provide the same calming ambiance as our natural bodies of water. You have no idea the horror that becomes of my typically sleek skin around those unnatural wet places.
For me, the Pup ‘n’ G Taco Joint is my go-to. You see Benjie there all the time, the collie bloke, hanging around for the next affectionate pet from any passerby. Talking about affection, let me tell you about Moosey, the closest thing to a soulmate a lad like me would get. You wouldn’t understand the bond unless you’ve had a look-alike moose toy too.
Life here is an adventure, a delightful blend of flavors that I savour every day, except for vacuum Mondays, of course – quite a mood dampener that one. For someone who absolutely detests water-related-lounging, I’m surprisingly unfit for baths, droll as a lump of wet sand.
Among the many other adventures in Spencerville includes occasional banter with Luna and Graeme. Though undoubtedly, our shared Greyhound ethos and genetic lineage make our bond stronger than any. A perfect day includes us, in Eastern White Westie Woods, indulging in a merry game of chase.
Yet, for all its worth, it makes one feel a tad lonely in these endless sands without the family you grew with. But there’s a saying here: “In patience lies joy”, and a joy it will be when family finds its way to Spencerville. For here in Spencerville, even though we are surrounded by love and companionship, some pieces of our hearts yearn to be connected once again to our families, waiting for the day we get reunited and become whole again.
So, as you find yourself walking across the Upper Black Bulldog Bay or strolling through the Furry Friends Art Gallery, hoping, yearning for me to join you, remember, in Spencerville, I am waiting too.
The End.
