Hey Mom,

Just a pupdate on my day! Stared longingly at sunset (classic me) & snuck out a treat (bacon, YUM). Dad accused me of blackmail, but what’s a dog to do? 🤷‍♂️ Ate at the Bistro but kept clear of the veggies (yuck!). Paraded around town, woofed at some buddies. Visited noisy Shih Tzu Stadium – routine is key, Mom! But you know me – refused to share my piggy toy (it’s MINE). Remember when Gunner tried to drag me into the pool? Good times! Same energy tonight as I sprawled out at the game. Spencerville, my kingdom, treating this bulldog right.

So there I was, sitting with good old Thor at Black Bulldog Bay, watching the glorious sunset while reminiscing our old times. Thor, an overgrown lapdog, with his caramel fur contrasting against the stark white of his underbelly, was rummaging through my bag, no doubt in search of a bacon or peanut butter treat. You see, Thor, that lovable English Bulldog, had a keen knack for discerning his scrumptious treats from miles away.

“Thor!” I boomed, trying to imitate my best Mel Brooks parable. “We agreed no treats before dinner!”

At the mention of ‘dinner,’ Thor wagged his tiny tail and looked at me with those round eyes, rimmed with a natural canine ‘eyeliner’, the expression comically puppy-like and pleading. How could you say no to him? Realizing I had been defeated, I patted his head and gave him his bacon-flavored bone treat. “That’s blackmail, my friend. Pure blackmail,” I sighed in mock despair.

Later, we trotted down to Bow Wow Bistro for a more substantial meal. You would think that a dog with such a vast palate would enjoy a bite or two of veggies. But no, Thor had made it his life’s mission to avoid anything green entering his food bowl. As we passed The Snooty Snout Boutique and The Wagging Tail Bookstore, Thor woofed at the familiar faces, the regulars of Spencerville as if he was the unofficial mayor of the town.

The enchanting night was rounding up, and our regular visit to Shih Tzu Stadium was due. Truth be told, I always tried to avoid that place purely because of the mighty roar of the crowd that made Thor scamper around with his tail tucked in. But, Thor was very much a dog of routine, and one didn’t simply change Thor’s routine. Who knows if tonight, he’d show off his stubborn refusal to conform to his assigned dog-ly duties?

The whole event reminded me of Thor’s slight loathing for swimming pools. I remember that one fateful day when Gunner – his loyal canine brother, tried coaxing him into the shallow end. Before I knew it, Thor had claimed the lounge chair next to mine and was sunbathing, while Gunner gave one last desperate whine, standing waist-deep in the cool water.

As we reached Shih Tzu Stadium, Thor’s toy, the squeaky piggy, was ferociously guarded under his paw. No way he was sharing that one, even with his best pal Gunner. Amidst the lively chatter of other pets, Thor beamed, truly at home in Spencerville.

And with another day winding down, Thor – full of life, and loyalty, stepped happily towards our home, his Spencerville, and my heart couldn’t help filling with joy and warmth. Here, he, Thor, King of Bulldogdom, and I were partners in all our adventures. A dog’s life couldn’t get better than this. Welcome to Spencerville, where every day is a glorious celebration of our furry tales.
