Tanner PawWord Story
It was another bright, tail-wagging day in Spencerville, and me, Tanner, Rat Terrier and Pug mix extraordinaire, was having a splendid splash at my daily routine.
The morning bustle at the Bullmastiff Boardwalk was quite something, a roll of the wild with my motley crew – Fat Russell, the rotund Bulldog and Millie, the winsome spaniel. Millie was relying on my knightly services again, “Tanner, dear, help me with my bow…please!” I obliged, tail wagging, “Anything for you, my queen!”
Russell’s hefty snort could always be heard over the canine din. His eyes twinkling with mischief, he proposed, “How about a quick game at The Pawfect Training Center?” The sight of us, racing through the agility course, with me eventually donning the victor’s cap, drew a few chuckles. I can’t help it if I’ve got this Rat Terrier agility in my genes.
Following our friendly romp, we found ourselves at Dog-gone Good BBQ, apparently the place that served the best cheese delights this side of Fawn Cream Maltese Meadow. “Let’s chow down!” I said, which drew laughter from my fellow canines. Honestly, the BBQ sauce had me so smitten, I even managed to forget my aversion to ear-cleaning sessions. As the mortal enemy of chocolate, this was indeed my personal paradise.
As the sun departed for the day, I found myself seeking solace at home with my Rat Terrier mom, Lilly, and my celebrity dad, Spencer. They run this Spencerville gig! Lilly, the rock of our ensemble, was swift to offer her warmth. Spencer, with his air of astute command, commanded the respect of the entire town. However, today his eyes flickered with familial softness. “My boy’s done us proud again,” he remarked as he curled up next to Mom.
So as the last vestiges of light dipped behind the Upper Collie Canyon, I went to bed nestled between Millie and Russell, the worn-out stuffed animal in my paws, never too far away. As I drifted into dreams under the star-studded Spencerville sky, I felt a pang of missing my human parents.
“Oh, dear, you miss them too?” whispered Millie, her voice barely a whimper. My heart thumped a resounding yes. But it was okay. In this near-perfect town we’ve called home, we knew they’d soon be here. And till then, the legends of Spencerville that we were busy living, would continue to cascade into one heartwarming adventure after another!
Tomorrow, fresh from a visit to the dreaded vet’s, I planned to take Millie on a date to Pup-Tizers! Here’s to hoping it ends with a smooch! Spencerville, with its cheese-filled promises and paranormal romances, here’s to another doggone good day!
“Yo, Mama! Tanner here. Spent the day kinging it up in Spencerville with Millie and Russ. Knotted Millie’s bow, beat Russ at agility (thank you, heritage), then nommed epic BBQ cheese yummies. Pa Spencer jellied his eyes at home, said I did good. Missing y’all, but we’re making adventures for when you’re back. Tomorrow’s a date at Pup-Tizers with Millie (wish me luck!). All’s gouda in Spencerville. Love, your Cheesehound, Tanner.”
