Pawsburgh: A Shepherd’s Tale of Stick-Bickering and Wagging Tails: A Cruzer PawWord Story
Hey there, just a quick paw-date from me, Cruzer ‘The Peacekeeper’! 🐾 Had to mediate a brotherly stick spat in Weimaraner Woods tonight – turns out, I’m quite the bark-biter for family feuds 😏. All’s well, ended with tails wagging and free kibble at dawn. Night’s adventure was a howlin’ success! #PawsburghPacifier 😎🌕 Catch you at sunrise. – Cruzer
Oh, reader of this quirky tail—tales of tails, that is—lend me your ears, or rather your eyes, as I, Cruzer, tell you the tale of a day that was no ordinary romp in the park. It began as it always does; I awoke from a dream of chasing that mysterious favorite toy of mine, its shape ever eluding my conscious mind.
I looked around, “Where’s my group of merry mutts?” I pondered—Harold the Hound, Tabby the Terrier, and Samantha Saint Bernard. As the sun set over the human’s world, the moon rose to signal the start of my own escapades in Pawsburgh, that hidden borough where we dogs run the show when the two-leggers slumber.
I set out, my paws hitting the pavement of Bichon Boulevard, nodding tail wags to the usual crew settling in for the nightly ruckus. Soon, the comforting scents of Setter’s Steakhouse filled the air, making my mouth water. Ah yes, the food I adore must surely come from such a place, yet ’tis a secret I must keep just a bit longer.
I trotted towards the Weimaraner Woods, with the wind sporting with my split-colored fur, when I spotted Tabby near Jade Jack Russell Junction looking more ruffled than a dog after a bath. “Cruzer,” she barked, “it’s the family; the Basset brothers are at it again!”
I had no family, being the lone wolf that I was, but in Pawsburgh, your friends are the family you wag your tail for. We sprinted to Weimaraner Woods where the altercation had attracted a number of mutts, some curious, others concerned. There, in the midst of it all, were the Basset brothers, Harold and Hank, their ears drooping even more than usual.
“It’s this stick, Cruzer,” Harold bellowed. “The stick of destiny, the one that can’t be shared!”
I raised an eyebrow—it always amused me how siblings could squabble over anything, even something as trivial as a mere stick. Although, looking at it, a fine stick it was, not unlike the elusive toy in my dreams.
“Come now, brothers,” I barked with an authority that seemed to echo through the moonlit woods. “There are countless sticks in Weimaraner Woods, but there’s only one family. Imagine what your ancestors would say, watching you coup over a wee twig.”
The brothers exchanged looks, their droopy eyes softening. “Cruzer’s right, Hank,” Harold admitted with a sigh as heavy as his long body.
Hank looked to the stick, then to me. “Would they really be that disappointed?” he asked, a whimper creeping into his voice.
“More than if you’d turned up your snouts at Mastiff’s Meals’ grub,” I said with a wry smile, finally revealing my disdain for that particular eatery.
The crowd that had gathered chuckled, tension dissolving like a treat in a hungry pup’s mouth. Family drama, you see, is not so rife in Pawsburgh, where even a scuffle ends with tails wagging.
With the setting of the moon and the lightening of the human sky, we all knew our time was fleeting until the next moonrise. I led the Basset brothers and the rest of my canine kin to Puppy Plate for a round of kibble on the house—a sort of peace offering to the coming day and our human counterparts.
Returning to the human realm, with its never-ending list of do’s and don’ts, I snuck back through the door just as the sun peeked over the horizon. Having navigated the twist and turns of family dynamics, I settled into my bed, knowing full well tonight I would again chase after the toy of my dreams. So ends a day in my life, a Shepherd’s tale woven with a bit of magic, a dash of drama, and a whole lot of doggy delight.
The End.
