I woke up this morning with a yawn that could have rivaled the grand opening of Collie Canyon. Oh, if you’re imagining this as being narrated by a human, think again — it’s Leo. And not the lion or the star sign, but a certain elegant Pitbull mix from Spencerville. You must’ve heard about the place. It’s literally tailor-made for us pets, talk about luxury!

Anyway, another scorcher in Spencerville today. You know the type of day where you almost expect to see your Pupparoni sizzle if you leave it out too long. I got off my bed, did a good old morning stretch – the kind that wakes up every muscle including the one in your tail which, ironically, I didn’t possess. Can’t let minor details like a missing tail slow down my vibe though.

Off I went to breakfast at Doggy Donuts, my favourite hangout spot. The aroma of fresh pastries wafted through the air and immediately my mouth began to water. They do a mean puppacino what can I tell you. And just when you’re thinking life doesn’t get any better, boomerang! They present you with a dog-friendly pizza, with a side of turkey burger – ugh, I mean, that’s it! I’d arrived.

After the canine version of a brunch, I made my way down to Happy Hounds Dog Walking. I know, I know — who pays for something they can do for free, right? But trust me, when you sashay down South Siberian Summit with them, even the trees bark in applause. You can’t get this kind of quality walk with home help.

Afternoon in, it was time to visit Barking Boutique. Not that I’m vain, but they see my regal black coat and they just see dollar signs! After bagging a few new accessories (a pitbull has to keep up appearances in this town), it was time to relax.

A quick play with ET and I was off to snooze under the afternoon sun in the park. A little peace and quiet were much needed without having Sammy try to usurp my reindeer or Max attempting a hostile takeover of my unicorn.

Dinner was at The Fetching Deli, another top favourite of mine with their chicken and pizza. But let’s keep the menu between just us, don’t want any fruits or vegetables showing up out of nowhere. They can make anything your heart desires (and your stomach approves).

Finally, as dusk fell over Spencerville, there was no place like home. I’d had my fair share of adventures, met a few weird delivery people (can they just stick to dropping off the package and not make small talk?), and enjoyed my favourite guilty pleasures. There was nothing left but to retire for the night, knowing that tomorrow was another day of possibilities. As I drifted off to dream, I can’t help but think of you, my family.

Oh, Spencerville, a true wonderland, with its captivating charm and new experiences every day. This place is something else – but one thing is sure: it’s no substitute for the real deal, you. I know our paths will cross again; but till then, all is pawfect in my world.
