Late-night escapades continued in Pawsburgh. A quiet start turned into a thrilling night. Slept through half the day, with my trusty Rishi toy as a pillow. Then a grumbling belly sent me to Pup ‘n’ Go Taco, but not before observing the chaos at Canine Couture Clothing and Happy Hounds Dog Walking. The peace was interrupted by a pup in trouble at Upper Collie Canyon. Heart pounding, I managed a daring rescue, and earned a warm ‘Thank you’. Celebrated the bravery with a feast at Paws on The Grill, the thrill of rescue mixed with the joy of biting into a juicy hamburger. All’s well in Pawsburgh until duty (or a hamburger) calls again!

In the heart of night, when every sensible creature slumbers, my bulbous eyes prise open, and I trot off with a secretive grin plastered to my short muzzle – a destination carved unmistakably in my whimsical canine heart: Pawsburgh. The town where our adventures dwell once the moon rules the sky, and the human world retreats into the oblivion of sleep.

The uproarious clash of the Upper Collie Canyon echoed in the distance; the mellow hum of Retriever River was but a murmur. A day had dawned in Pawsburgh, an extraordinarily monotonous one, I dare say, when I, Dolly Bulldog, the pawlice of Pawsburgh, found myself sprawled on the floor of the Wagging Tail Bookstore, an amusing Rishi the fishy toy tucked under my arm.

My belly growled, louder than howl of a wolf in the solitude of a forest, reminding me of my interrupted exploration for the tales of K9 detectives, solved over hamburgers, of course. I made haste, sprinting like an antelope, to Pup ‘n’ Go Taco joint. Hamburgers, you see, are the elixir for my curious soul.

Chasing downhill, the furious flurry of Westie Woods, Pawsburgh’s heartbeat left me panting admiring the bustling epicentre. Canine Couture Clothing was amply abuzz for the upcoming ‘Pup Fashion Parade,’ while Happy Hounds Dog Walking was, as usual, a yapping chaos of excited canines eager for a stroll. But, alas! My pantomime was interrupted by an earnest yelp followed by an unusually muffled ruffling sound.

My heart pounded as I pursued the noise uphill. Ah, Upper Collie Canyon, my least favourite part of town, the site of our turbulent history. It was never the chill, but the echo of noises that unsettled me, cracking my resolve. Yet, duty beckoned louder. Bracing myself, I sprinted across the Canyon, each beat in my chest echoing the rhythmic thump of my paws against the gravel.

Through the obscurity, a silhouette emerged, wriggling helplessly by the cliffside – a pup! Without a second thought, I leapt, guided by my noble instincts. With a swift extraction, the pup was safe and sound within moments.

“Oh Dolly, always the brave!” the grateful pup’s mother exclaimed. Our celebrated cheer traversed through Pawsburgh, and the dusky town roared in amusement and joy. Exhausted but amplified by the thrill, I opted for a feast at Paws on The Grill restaurant. The satisfaction of a heroic feat well accomplished was only rivalled by the joy the first bite of a grilled hamburger brought to my salivating taste buds.

With my belly full and heart content, I sneaked back to my cosy world, leaving Pawsburgh in the safe hands of a rising sun. And so, I concluded one more fateful day, a comic tale in the grand saga of my adventurous late-night sojourns. Duty, as they say, never sleeps. Well, until the hamburger beckons, that is!
